Welcome to Avert! By downloading, accessing, or using the Avert mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
Avert is a screen time management and focus tool designed to help you reduce digital distraction. It provides features such as application blocking, scheduling, screen time statistics, and focus timers.
You agree to use Avert only for its intended purposes. While Avert is designed to effectively block applications and restrict access to specific features when scheduled, it is intended as a productivity aid, not an absolute security suite. Parents or guardians using this tool for device management should be aware that technically savvy users may find ways to bypass restrictions (e.g., in Safe Mode). We do not guarantee 100% infallible blocking under all technical scenarios.
Avert requires highly elevated Android permissions, specifically the Accessibility Service API, Usage Stats Access, and Display Over Other Apps. By granting these permissions, you acknowledge that Avert needs them to monitor which apps are currently on screen and to render blocking overlays.

As further described in our Privacy Policy, your sensitive usage logs remain strictly local to your device. The data sent to third-party services is diagnostic in nature and does not include personally identifiable information.
Since Avert processes your screen time data locally, most of your information is stored only on your device. You can clear this data at any time by clearing the App Cache/Data in your Android Settings or by uninstalling the App.
Any diagnostic data collected by our third-party partners (PostHog and Sentry) is retained in accordance with their respective retention policies, typically used to improve software quality over time.
Avert may offer premium features under subscription plans or one-time purchases. All billing and payment processing will be handled directly through the Google Play Store infrastructure in accordance with their respective terms of service. We do not process or store any credit card information directly.
Avert is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, entirely secure, or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Avert's developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues (including missed notifications, missed alarms, or app functionality restrictions), whether incurred directly or indirectly, resulting from your use of the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes within the App. Your continued use of the App following any changes indicates your acceptance of the new Terms.
